The San Diego Boot Camp basically whipped my booty in to shape. I have always been moderately active but LOVED this workout style to tone and tighten some of those flabby areas. Each day was different and utilized various exercise methods to achieve optimal results. They didn’t make us run a bunch or hop on any machines. We used bands, kettle bells, jump ropes, jungle gyms at the park, benches, hills, and ultimately our own bodies as fitness machines to build our strength. I was never bored. The coaches know you by name and push you just the right amount in order to work harder. I would’ve never been able to motivate myself to push my strength limits without their encouragement. Their coaching style is the perfect amount of intense and motivating. I left boot camp completely sweaty every day. I always knew it was a good workout then. I took the 2 week boot camp course and would definitely do it again! I would recommend it to anyone of all fitness abilities. It was nice to see a mixture of age groups and body sizes each day. No judgments in this zone!

it has been quite an adventure participating in Boot Camp! When I first met you I wondered why people would want to endure such a class, but your personality makes such a difference and I thought the challenge would be interesting. I was right! You know I thought long and hard before committing, and though I am proud that I stayed the course, it is due to the quality classes, fun people and results that I was encouraged. My reason for trying your class was to test my psychological strength when being pushed (far out) of my physical comfort zone – solid instruction and patience helped me meet and exceed that goal. I am pleased with the physical results – endurance, definition and strength, but much more delighted with the internal, psychological strength the class gave me. As the Boot Camp mission statement says : “we all have the power within us to do great things. Fear can be controlled and conquered.” I now know this deep down, which is a quality that will last a lifetime. Thank you, and Megan, for helping me achieve that.

If not for time constraints I would not be stopping, and I hope it works out for me to rejoin next summer. Being outdoors to exercise, was in itself a motivator.

Dear John and Megan,
I wanted to say THANK YOU so much for the past couple of weeks of boot camp. I never thought I would enjoy it like I did. Your style and personalities made boot camp an enjoyable experience. I didn’t think I would make it through the first class, let alone return for more. But somehow, with your persistence and patience, I did. My only wish was that I would have started at the beginning of summer. I wish I could do it during the school year, but haven’t found a way. I will be returning next summer, hopefully in better shape as I plan on continuing to do some type of exercise. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR EVERYTHING!!!

I began going to San Diego Boot Camp at age 68 upon the urging of my son who had lost 30 pounds and reshaped his body. The name alone was intimidating and I felt that the Boot Camp would be way beyond my level.

I was athletic as a high school and college student but had spent years in the world of motherhood, PTA etc and had lapsed into pleasantly plump. Genetically I was born to eat and be overweight and found it easy to fulfill those expectations.

I began working out 16 years ago and it is only in the last four months, my time spent at Boot Camp, that I have seen a change in my attitude, eating habits, self confidence and body. John Sims and his assistant Megan at San Diego Boot Camp have challenged me by offering new ways to use my body and muscles and taken me where I thought was impossible, not with a firm hand, but with a can do attitude and cheers for every little success from trainers and fellow participants.

There is no measuring stick, only doing the best you can do while being outside, near the bay with good and supportive people. It is one of the hardest things I have ever done but the rewards are in my health, attitude, self confidence and ability to laugh and enjoy taking care of myself. For me, San Diego Boot Camp has given me the answer that I’ve spent years looking for.

How do you really thank 2 people for really giving you your life back?

About 3 months ago my wife came to me visibly sad. She told me that she loved me very much and wanted to have a long and happy life with me. However, if I did not start taking better care of myself she knew that our life together would most likely be much shorter. She was very right. I was staring 40 years old square in the face, I was obese, I had very high triglyceride levels, very high cholesterol, and fatty liver disease.

My problem was that I hated going to the gym. The thought of spending hours on a treadmill or lifting weights really held zero appeal to me. Luckily, I ran into a friend who told me about San Diego Bootcamp. Now I will be the first to admit that I felt that I way too old and way too intolerant of jerks to go to someplace where someone would be yelling at me for an hour which was what “bootcamp” brought to mind. My friend assured me that this was not the case and that it was in fact “fun”.

Fun is not the word I would use to describe my first couple of bootcamp experiences. I would describe the people as really fun, amazing, and encouraging. They made it really easy for me to want to come back again. The actual workouts were really, really hard. However John and Angela really knew when I needed to be encouraged and when I needed to be pushed. I was amazed at how quickly my overall fitness level improved.

3 months later my I have lost over 20 pounds, my total cholesterol has dropped to 112, my triglycerides have dropped from 212 to 57, my body fat has gone from 28% to 19%, there are no signs of liver dand most importantly my wife loves the way I look and feel. This has been an amazing journey that I could not have undertaken without the wonderful support of John, Angela, and the rest of new friends at The San Diego Bootcamp.

I wanted to touch base with you to let you know how impressed I was with The San Diego Boot Camp while I was vacationing at the Hilton Resort in San Diego last month. As you may remember, I was just finishing a run and on my way back to the Hilton when I encountered your group setting up for that morning’s session. I was excited to see a boot camp – and SO CLOSE to the hotel. What good fortune to run into you – literally.

It was wonderful that you and Angela enthusiastically allowed me to join for the day. The work out was fantastic. You and Angela were both so professional, encouraging, and knowledgeable. You motivated me – boot camp style – just the way I like it! I could tell from the conversations you and Angela were having with the other boot campers, that you are very involved in your business and committed to health and wellness.

Your boot camp members are clearly as committed to you as you are to them.

As I told you, I am an avid boot camper from Dallas and the very idea of being away from boot camp, even for a few days while on vacation, was disheartening. To be able to continue my work-outs – like I was at home – was incredible. I’m so glad I chose to stay at the Hilton. Though, to be honest, I almost chose another hotel closer to the beach. If I had known I could join your group for a few days while on vacation, right outside my hotel door, there would have been no hesitation in selecting the Hilton for my stay. In the end, I’m glad I ran into you by chance…
